Thoughts On Virtual Instruction **PLEASE READ**
Well, here we are, hardly a place any of us thought we would be at this point in the school year. Trust me when I say that I would much rather be holding our regular daily meetings, seeing each of you and continuing to grow together.
The good news is that the content we were already going to cover together in class lends itself somewhat conveniently to remote learning. Plus, if you're like me, I'm looking for anything and everything to help me occupy these huge spans of time. I think you'll find these assignments engaging and creative, just enough to still feel like school is in session but not overwhelming.
That being said, the virtual format is quite the different animal than attending class every day. It will require your best self-discipline and an ability to take initiative without prompting. I have designed the activities below so that you can work ahead, but have also included a minimum schedule. Some of you may choose to knock all of this out quickly, while others meet weekly deadlines. That is one of the beauties of asynchronous learning.
Now, for the nitty gritty. Virtual instruction requires an even higher level of academic integrity than usual. Please understand that it will be instantly apparent who has worked on their own and who has shared/exchanged answers with another person. Because of the nature of this work, if I have any reason to be suspicious of the originality and authenticity of your work, there will be a zero-tolerance policy.
Now, on a lighter note, what an outstanding way to start off your 4th quarter grade on a solid footing! Take full advantage of this opportunity, and enjoy some of the Masterworks of English literature and history!

First Steps
~~STEP 1~~
Now is the time to subscribe to Remind messages. These are the quickest way for us to maintain communication, and I will check them multiple times daily. Send a text message to 81010 with the message "@campeng20+ your class period number"
~~STEP 2~~
Now is also the time to subscribe to Google Classroom. Instructions for this are in their own section in the toolbar at the top of this page.
Google Classroom can be operated via a desktop/laptop, or there is a free app that can be downloaded to Apple and Android devices. Because of the volume of work that will be coming in, I will only accept submissions via Google Classroom. Any exceptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
~~STEP 3~~
Finally, you will need access to Google Hangouts. This will allow us to meet virtually when necessary. This will work on your desktop/laptop or you can download the App to your phone (should be the first result when searching).

Office Hours
I will hold "office hours" school days from 10 am to 1 pm. This time is designed for you to reach out with questions and concerns you might have as you work through the study guide below.
If you need to talk, send a Remind message first. From there, I will reply with how we should continue the conversation (Remind, e-mail, Google Hangout).
